The Full Story
About
Anatavia Benson is a wife, mother, community advocate, and grateful child of God who believes in the power of faith, family, and service. She has seen firsthand both the opportunities and challenges facing Fairburn—overcrowded schools, broken infrastructure, and a city council that sometimes forgets who it works for: the people.
Her life has been shaped by a passion for education, a heart for youth and seniors, and a deep commitment to serving her community with integrity. Anatavia is ready to bring that same passion to City Council—leading with transparency, unity, and accountability.
Core Values:
-
Faith as a guiding principle
-
Family as the foundation of community
-
Education as a pathway to opportunity
-
Service as the bridge between vision and action
Service Focus Areas:
-
Youth as tomorrow’s leaders
-
Seniors as wisdom-bearers deserving honor and support
-
Excluded voices as crucial missing pieces of our community

Mission
1. Stronger Schools
Most of Fairburn’s public schools are overcrowded and underperforming. Anatavia will work with educators, parents, and local leaders to:
-
Bring resources into our schools that truly are comparable to the ones that exist in North Fulton’s schools
-
Address overcrowding and ill-conceived redistricting
-
Improve school ratings
-
Support teachers, staff, and school volunteers
-
Increase parent and community engagement
2. Responsible Leadership
The members of Fairburn’s City Council should represent and reflect the voices of the people—free of infighting, attacks, and grandstanding. Anatavia champions:
-
Transparency in decision-making
-
Thoughtful and accurate communication
-
Respectful, collaborative leadership
-
Accountability to the community
3. Infrastructure Enhancements and Improvements
Broken water mains, decaying roadways, exorbitant utility bills, and aging infrastructure affect families across Fairburn. Anatavia will fight for:
-
Reliable water systems
-
Infrastructure upgrades and maintenance
-
Clear communication of upgrade plans and timelines
-
Long-term solutions, not band-aid fixes
4. Youth Engagement
Our young people are the future of Fairburn. Anatavia will create opportunities for them to:
-
Be heard and share their ideas
-
Showcase their talents and gifts
-
Receive mentorship from community experts
-
Contribute to the success of their community
5. Community Collaboration
Fairburn is full of talent, knowledge, and expertise. Anatavia will build a citywide forum to:
-
Collect and share residents’ experiences and skills
-
Encourage collaboration between neighborhoods and businesses
-
Create a “best practices” database to benefit everyone
-
Update Fairburn’s citizens on how their city’s plans (economic, strategic, parks, comprehensive, etc.) are being considered, followed, and maintained as Fairburn grows
6. One Fairburn
Fairburn is more than the historical downtown/Highway 74/Lightning/Durham Lakes/Agricultural/business/Landmark and other neighborhoods, subdivisions, sections, and districts that many hear about—it’s one big, beautiful community! Anatavia’s vision is to unite all of Fairburn without sacrificing area identities that make Fairburn so unique.
The Why
"I want Fairburn to be a city where every child receives an excellent education, every senior is valued, every family is supported, every business has the opportunity to thrive, and every voice is heard, appreciated, and considered. I want a City Council that works for the people—not against each other. I believe Fairburn is strongest when we are united as One Fairburn."
